At the time of the murders in Lahore of Maharaja Shcr Singh and his son Partap Singh on 15 September 1843, he was with his father at Thancsar. When in May 1844, Alar Singh, with a small force, crossed the Sutlcj to join Karivar Pashaura Singh, Kchar Singh accompanied his father. He escaped unharmed in the contest that occurred. He continued to live at Thancsar in British territory where he died in 1864.
