Later he served as governor of Jehlum and Rohtas. In 1848, Misr Rup Lal joined hands with Chatar Singh Atarivala to Fight against the British. After the annexation of the Punjab by the British, he was dismissed from service and his property was confiscated. He died in September 1865 at the ripe age of over eighty.
