NANDED (190 10`N, 77°20`E), one of the important centres of Sikh pilgrimage situated on the left bank of the River Godavari, is a district town in Maharashtra. It is a railway station on the Manmad Kachiguda section of the South Central Railway, and is also connnected by road with other major towns of the region. The Sikhs generally refer to it as Hazur Sahib or Abichal Nagar. Both these names apply, in fact, to the principal shrine, but are extended in common usage to refer to the town itself.
SHAHID GANJ BHAI MANI SINGH, LAHORE The place where Bhai Mani Singh was martyred is situated inside the Masti Gate which is behind the Lahore Fort. Bhai Mani Singh was born in a pious and dedicated Gursikh faimly which was devoted to the Gurus. Bhai Mani Singh had the rare privilege to be a child mate of Guru Gobind Singh. Bhai Sahib had also the honour to scribe the holy Sri Guru Granth Sahib in the presence of Saheb-i-Kamal Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
TWARIKH GURU KHALSA, a voluminous prose narrative delineating the history of the Sikhs from their origin to the time when they lost the Punjab to the British. The author, Giani Gian Sihgh (1822-1921), claimed descent from the brother of Bhai Mani Singh, the martyr, who was a contemporary of Guru Gobind Singh. The work is divided into five parts : Janam Sakhi Dasari Guruari, Shamsher Khalsa. Raj Khalsa, Sardar Khalsa, and Panth Khalsa. In the first part the author presents biographies of the Ten Gurus and sketches the evolution of the community culminating in the emergence of the Khalsa.
