KOT BHAI, village 7 km northeast of Giddarbaha (30°12`N, 74°39`E) in Faridkot district of the Punjab, is named after Bhai Bhagatu, a devout Sikh who served the Fifth, Sixth and the Seventh Gurus. When Guru Gobind Singh (16661708) visited the village in 1706, two bdmds, i.e. shopkeeperscummoneylenders, Rangi and Ghummi by name, served him with devotion and begged to be initiated into the order of the Khalsa. There are two Gurudwaras commemorating the Guru`s visit one inside the village where those two Sikhs resided, and the other on the eastern end of the village marking the site where Guru Gobind Singh had camped. Both shrines are controlled by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee through a local committee.

AJRANA KALAN, village in Kurukshetra district of Haryana, 12 km southwest of Shahabad (30°lb`N, 76°53`E), is sacred to Guru Tegh Bahadur who stopped here in 1670 while on his way from Delhi to join his family at Lakhnaur. A Manji Sahib established to commemorate the visit of the Guru exists on the southern side of the village. It consists of a small octagonal domed structure, built on a wider base. The Gurdwara is administered privately by a Sikh family of the village. A civil suit for the control of the shrine is going on between this family and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee as represented by the Gurdwara Committee of Shahabad.
BHAI PHERU, GURDWARA (also called Gurdwara Sangat Sahib), named after its founder, the well known Udasi Sikh preacher Bhai Pherii (1640-1706), is located at Mien ki Maur, in Chuniari tahsil of Lahore district in Pakistan. During Sikh times, large endowments in land extending to about 2,750 acres were inscribed to the shrine which was administered by a line of priests belonging to Sangat Sahib Ke sect of Udasi Sikhs. As a campaign for bringing the Sikh places of worship under the management of a central body, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, formed in 1920, negotiations were opened with the mahant or custodian for the transfer of the Bhai Pheru Gurdwara and the landed property attached to it.
SHAHID SIKH MISSIONARY COLLEGE, at Amritsar, a college for training Sikh preachers, was opened in October 1927 in memory of the shahids, i.e. martyrs, who had on 20 February 1921 laid down their lives at Nankana Sahib, birthplace of Guru Nanak, during the campaign for the reform of the management of Sikh shrines. The idea of starting such a college originated with the managing committee of the Gurdwara Sri Nankana Sahib formed in consequence of the passage of the Sikh Gurdwaras Act of 1925. A Shahidi Fund (martyrs` fund) had in fact been opened and a Sikh Mission Society formed in 1921 at Nankana Sahib, the former to raise a memorial in honour of the martyrs and the latter to spread Sikh teaching.
BHAI PHERU MORCHA, one of a series of campaigns in the Sikhs` agitation in the 1920`s for the reformation of their holy places. Gurdwara Sangat Sahib, located in Mien ke Maur in Lahore district, about 15 km from Chhanga Manga railway station, dedicated to the memory of Bhai Pheru (1640-1706), a masand or parish leader in the time of Guru Har Rai who was honoured for his devotion by Guru Gobind Singh with the titles of Sachchi Dahri (True Bearded) and Sangat Sahib, was an important shrine, with 2,750 acres of land attached to it, and was being managed by Mahant Kishan Das.
PARTAP SINGH, coming from the village of Sharikar in the district of Jalandhar, had won repute for his regularity of habit and strong sense of discipline. He had been a Viceroy commissioned officer (Jamadar) in the Punjab army. He had been able to spend his early years at school. He seemed well to understand the value of the three R`s and had sent up one of his sons to the university. That was Swaran Singh who received his Master`s degree in Physics at the University of the Punjab. He had a fabulous career as a minister in Jawaharlal Nehru`s government after Independence.
