PUR HIRAN
PUR HIRAN, village 5 km south of Hoshiarpur town (31°32`N, 75°55`E) along HoshiarpurPhagwara road, has a historical shrine, Gurdwara Zahira Zahur, dedicated to Guru Hargobind who, according to local tradition, came here from Bodal near Dasuya on his way to Kiratpur. The Gurdwara marks the spot where the Guru encamped on the right bank of a cho or seasonal stream. The newly constructed complex comprises a hall, with a square sanctum in the centre.Adjacent to it is the divan hall. The Gurdwara is administered by the Shiromam Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee through a local committee. Besides the daily services, all important Sikh anniversaries, especially the birthday of Guru Hargobind, are observed and a largelyattended fair is held on the occasion of Basant Panchami, in the month of February.
