NIRMOHGARH SAHIB, GURDWARA, situated on top of a low hill 4 km south of Kiratpur (31° ll`N, 76° 35`E), is dedicated to Guru Gobind Singh. In August 1700, Anandpur, which was then the seat of Guru Gobind Singh, was attacked by a combined force of several of the surrounding hill chiefs. For four days, their troops assaulted successively the four fortresses built around the main citadel, Anandgarh, but they found all of them impregnable. Finally, they laid a siege to Anandgarh in the hope of starving the Sikhs into surrender, but without effect. They then resorted to a ruse.

AGAUL, village 10 km from Nabha (30°22\'N, 76°9\'E) in Patiala district, has a historical shrine called Gurudwara Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib. In the course of a journey through this area, Guru Tegh Bahadur came and sat here under a pipal tree on the bank of a pond. The old pipal tree is not there now, but the pond, called Ram Talai and believed to possess medicinal properties for curing skin diseases, has since been lined and converted into a small sarovar, holy tank.

NOHAR (29°12`N, 74°45`E) in Gariganagar district of Rajasthan, was visited by Guru Gobind Singh during hisjourney towards the South in 1706. He encamped near Chhip Talai, a pond southeast of the town. The local inhabitants, mostly followers of Jain and Vaisnava faiths, viewed the armed band of the Guru`s disciples with trepidation. The accidental trampling of a pigeon inside the town by a Sikh gave rise to much commotion. However, the Guru`s arrival at the scene pacified the people who were deeply impressed by his holy manner.
